Dr. Higginbottom received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Queen's University at Kingston Ontario in 1991. Dr. Higginbottom has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide spectrum of clinical problems. In addition, she has a background in psychological research and prefers to utilize research-proven (evidence-based) interventions.

Dr. Higginbottom brings a sensitive, practical problem-solving approach to her work using a broad range of psychological theories and approaches depending on a client's needs and concerns. In particular, Dr. Higginbottom draws upon CBT (cognitive-behavioural therapy) EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), attachment and family systems theory.

In addition to her private practice work, Dr. Higginbottom has taught psychology at the university level, developed and presented workshops as well as published research findings on a range of topics. Dr. Higginbottom routinely seeks out educational opportunities in order to add to her knowledge base as well as keep herself up-to-date.
