Dr. Elgie is a registered psychologist, who has a private practice in Vancouver. He is also employed as a Team Leader by the Ministry of Children and Family Development, in the Lower Mainland.

Dr. Elgie's private practice includes individual and couples psychotherapy. His treatment is specific to adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, psychosis, substance and internet addictions.

Dr. Elgie's work with the Ministry involves the treatment and management of at risk youth. Dr. Elgie's Ministry work is also administrative in nature, where he manages the Delta Child and Youth Mental Health time at two locations. Dr. Elgie is an EPI clinician (Early Psychosis Intervention), which has furthered his experience with adolescents and psychosis.

Dr. Elgie also has clinical, teaching, and administrative experience in the United States and Canada. He has led seminars and workshops specific to dual diagnosis and substance abuse education. He is a teacher and supervisor with both the Ministry and Simon Fraser University.
