With over twenty years of experience as a feminist counsellor and therapist, Caren has broad experience in women's issues including: depression, loneliness, low self worth, lack of assertiveness, relationship concerns, separation, divorce, grief and loss, eating disorders, life transitions, career changes, parenting, sexuality, childhood trauma and abuse. She works with a wide range of clients, including daughters of alcoholics and daughters of immigrants.

She uses short stories and novels within the counselling process, as well as journal writing and creative writing. While Caren's therapeutic orientation is existential/gestalt, she adapts her approach to suit individual needs.

Caren was employed for a decade as a Counsellor and Assistant to the Director in UBC Office for Women Students where she also provided clinical supervision for Counselling Psychology and Social Work students on practicum.

Her degrees are from UBC:

M.Ed., Counselling Psychology (1981) B.A., Italian and Spanish (1967)
