Barb is a Registered Social Worker with a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of British Columbia. Barb has experience and training in areas of individual and family counselling, group facilitation and mediation.

Barb has over 15 years experience working with youth and adults helping them to develop strategies to overcome personal difficulties and gain understanding during life transitions. She uses solution-focused therapy, narrative and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in her approach. Her use of clinical assessment and therapeutic intervention has been helpful to individuals with a broad spectrum of needs who are encountering difficulty in their personal and professional lives.

Barb believes there is interconnection with physical, social, emotional and spiritual facets of a persons’ life and the role of the therapist is to help guide individuals to discover ways to adjust to loss, gain awareness of patterns of behaviour that are causing distress and create strategies for decision making and change. She believes that providing a safe, confidential environment for individuals to be heard and explore issues in depth is of immense value during times of personal struggle.

Barb welcomes an initial phone conversation or email to discuss counselling concerns and the possibility of the development of a therapeutic relationship. *Weekend appointments are available.
