April is a therapist who has a great deal of experience working with adults who have histories of abuse, trauma, and neglect. As such, she addresses a wide range of problems including post-traumatic stress, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, addictions, and eating disorders. She draws upon a number of methods in her focused, caring, and respectful approach with clients. These may include EMDR, Imaginal Nurturing, brief therapy, and art therapy.

April has trained hundreds of therapists internationally in the method she has developed for working with clients with histories of neglect and abuse. She is the author of Developing a Secure Self: An Attachment-based Approach to Adult Psychotherapy, and is on the Editorial Board of CounsellingBC.com.

April’s Master's degree is from the College of Family and Consumer Studies, University of Guelph. She is certified in EMDR, is an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, and Registered Art Therapist, as well as having a background in bodywork. She has been in private practice for 13 years.
