Additional Information about this counsellor or psychologist:

Sue Goldswain is a registered psychologist with a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from UBC. As well as several years working in addiction clinics, she has been in private practice for over 20 years, initially in Vancouver, and then in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island for 13 years. She returned to Vancouver in 2009. Her areas of experience are depression, anxiety, marriage/relationship, addictions, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress, grief & loss, personal injury/chronic pain/illness, and life transitions.

Sue brings a warm and caring presence to her work, plus a keen mind and an ongoing commitment to excellence. Her grounding theory since early in her training has been Jungian Psychology, and she uses a variety of treatment techniques to support this orientation. Aside from her graduate studies in individual & couples counselling, which focused on the expressive therapies, she has additional experience in Emotional Focused Therapy, Jungian Dream work, and Mind-Body-Stress-Reduction. She has level 11 training in EMDR and has been treating all types of trauma with this very effective method for the last 11 years. Her most recent training has been in Imago Relationship Therapy and she is a Certified Advanced Clinician in Imago therapy. Sue is excited about this form of couples therapy which provides a safe and respectful environment for couples to rebuild commitment and passion in their relationship.

In her spare time, Sue is a creative writer and is currently engaged in a creative writing program at SFU.
