Michelle Mann (PhD RCC) is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a therapist providing counselling, therapy and coaching to children, youth and adults. Trust, respect, warmth and empathy are key elements in her work. Dr. Mann assists clients to reach their goals by helping them move forward and disentangle themselves from distractive emotions, thoughts and behaviours. Her private practice, "Be The Key" Counselling Services, has offices located in Vancouver and on the North Shore. Skype meetings are offered as well.

Dr. Mann has been working in counselling for the past 25 years; she has also trained and supervised psychologists, counsellors, art therapists, music therapists, teachers and health professionals in North America, Europe and Asia. Currently, she is affiliated with the Counselling Psychology programs at City University of Seattle, The Vancouver Site and Vancouver Community College.

Michelle is a motivational speaker and a passionate advocate for the promotion of resiliency, adjustment, self-esteem, self-control, social support, and happiness in everyday life. Her clients and students have reported their therapy and classroom experiences as "life-changing". Many noticed an increased resiliency, fostered self-esteem, and more effective and supportive communication. The majority noted a significant improvement in their sense of mental well-being and quality of life.

Michelle develops and implements counselling programs for emotional and social growth. Her mental health initiative for school children, "I Am the Key," has been recognized as promising and effective by several major health institutions, including Mental Health Europe. She has presented her work at numerous conferences and workshops. Michelle has worked as a consultant, and has supported many organizations both locally and internationally in the fields of mental health promotion and the prevention of mental disorders and social problems.

Michelle's therapeutic work is tailored to the needs of her clients. Her clinical interests include an array of modalities: Applied Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative-Therapy, Humanistic Therapies, Interpersonal Therapy, Applied Existential Philosophy, Cross-Cultural Counselling, Social Justice Therapy, Expressive Art Therapies, Play Therapy, Story Telling Therapy, Child- Focused Therapy, and more.

Michelle's community service activities are her passion. She lectures in the Mental Health Speakers Series and participates in the counselling project "Counselling the Under- Served on the North Shore" for the Canadian Mental Health Association, North and West Vancouver Branch. She is also a consultant for community diversity projects, including a documentary film to increase awareness about the life of the homeless on the downtown Eastside of Vancouver, and an initiative that focuses on increasing awareness and understanding of individuals living with disabilities and differences in British Columbia.
