Mark Giesbrecht has been providing Counselling Based Services in the Community since 1995. He holds a Masters Degree in Counselling and memberships with both the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Mark is 44 years old, married for over 17 years, and the father of three children.

Although Mark is qualified to provide help with the variety of problems that cause people to seek out a Clinical Counsellor/Psychotherapist he has had specific training and experience in the areas of:

• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
• Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy
• Eating Disorders with Men or Women
• Anxiety, Panic, Phobias, Depression & Mood Disorders
• Somatic Experiencing & EMDR
• Concerns specific to Men
• Alcohol, Drug, Food, Gambling, Internet and Sex Addictions

Mark has also been helping many individuals (both women and men) with a whole range of sexuality concerns. This includes issues of gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or sexual performance problems, sex addiction, and more. Mark is friendly and helpful to many individuals who identify themselves as members of many sub-communities like kink or queer.

Mark is currently practicing in the area of psychotherapy in Nanaimo. In the past Mark has worked for many community agencies and has worked with children and youth psychiatry inpatient care. Mark also has extensive experience working with special needs and with behaviourally challenged children and adolescents.

In an effort to be transparent and not inflict unnecessary beginning costs on potential clients, Mark offers an initial 30 minute consultation session for free.
