Additional Information about this counsellor or psychologist:

I work with individuals, couples and families to help heal from the personal and interpersonal obstacles that are preventing you from actualizing your unique potentials and experiencing a fulfilling, dynamic life.

My practice includes helping people overcome specific issues manifesting in symptoms such as relationship and intimacy struggles, anxiety, stress, depression, loss and grief, PTSD, eating disorders, and addictions, as well as spiritual or existential issues relating to broader life themes such as meaning, authenticity, death and freedom.

Approach

I offer a warm, grounded, empathic and relational approach to therapy. At the heart of which is the belief that through the exploration of experiential relatedness, between the client, and myself, awareness of barriers that restrict or diminish your authenticity can be recognized and from that insight, latent potentials emerge. This process supports you in finding your own most genuine voice, from which creativity, wisdom and freedom express themselves naturally.

I work collaboratively, focusing on the unique needs of each client, to identify your personal goals for change. Insight, awareness, acceptance and strengths building are some of the approaches I use to help you transform limiting thinking patterns, destructive behaviors, and move toward a more balanced and connected life.

Background

For the last ten years I have been supporting people in a range of therapeutic benefits: From increasing the capacity to experience insight, meaning, connectedness and love; to developing power and effectiveness in the world; to exploring the dharma; and opening to the mystery or spirituality.

In addition to being a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I have a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D in Psychology. My approach to helping people learn to connect to themselves and others stems directly from my Ph.D work in personal and interpersonal transformative change.

I have published my research in various psychological publications as well as created transformational learning programs, led groups and retreats. I have also conducted research and have expertise in the area of trauma and PTSD and am a co-author of a book on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
