I have a Master of Counselling degree with a focus on marriage and family therapy from Trinity Western University, and have been a practicing counsellor for over 5 years. My focus has been on children and youth in the Sea to Sky corridor and families in North Vancouver. I have specialized training in several methods of family and couples therapy. I am Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and practice in White Rock.

In my years counselling families I have developed a style that is both warm and practical, that clients say makes them feel welcomed and accepted while having clear direction in the therapeutic process. In child and youth therapy I focus on their particular knowledge, skills and dreams with the effect of having a stronger voice and greater confidence. Family therapy is an effective way to witness these accomplishments and draw families together in a shared purpose. In family therapy each member will experience having their voices heard and a safe space is created to explore new ideas and possibilities. My approach is guided by co-operation between individual client or family, and therapist, and the expertise clients have in living their own life is respected. Client feedback is sought throughout the process.

I use a variety of approaches designed to establish a relational bond between client and therapist, and to bring to light the client's strengths and skills. Sessions are conducted in a quiet, comfortable space and a play room is available for therapeutic work with children. I have worked with families from a variety of cultural and social backgrounds, including many First Nations families and women in difficult relationships. I use a gentle approach that allows the client to set the pace of therapy.
