The physical, emotional, or psychological response to religious beliefs, practices, or structures that is experienced by an individual as overwhelming or disruptive and has lasting adverse effects on a person's physical, mental, social, emotional or spiritual well being.
Holiday stress can exacerbate mental health issues or - on occasion - trigger new emotional challenges. Expectations for a positive experience may trigger feelings of anxiety. The combination of social obligations, financial strain, longstanding family dynamics patterns and differing belief systems can sometimes feel overwhelming. Holidays can be an opportunity to learn about boundaries and self care. Counselling may be helpful for all of these things.
Narrative Therapy

This type of therapy offers a respectful and non-blaming approach which acknowledges each person as the author of his or her own life. Narrative therapy assumes that people have a range of inner resources that help them deal with difficulties and problems in their lives.
Narrative therapy can be used with children, adults, in groups, couples and individuals. It can help them cope with traumatic events without the need to discuss it directly.
