Existential-Humanistic
Existential-Humanistic, Synergetic Play Therapy, Walk and Talk Therapy
Existential-Humanistic psychotherapies emphasize a collaborative approach to the understanding of the client's full experience rather than just the symptom, thoughts or behaviour. Psychological problems are viewed as the result of a restricted ability to make authentic, meaningful, and self-directed choices about how to live. Consequently, interventions are aimed at increasing client self-awareness and self-understanding. The key words for existential-humanistic therapy are acceptance and growth, responsibility and freedom.
The main premise of Synergetic Play Therapy is that the therapist actively engages in the child's play as a co-regulator and a resource. The therapist's role is to create a safe and attuned therapeutic environment where the child feels accepted, understood, and supported. SPT emphasizes the therapeutic relationship as a primary factor in facilitating healing and growth.
In Synergetic Play Therapy, the therapist pays close attention to the child's nervous system arousal and regulation, helping the child build self-regulation skills. The therapist also helps the child explore and process unresolved emotions, trauma, or challenging life experiences through play.

Walk and Talk therapy takes your counselling session outside. Some clients feel that it is difficult for them to talk, think or feel, while sitting still. They need to move their bodies and feel that talking comes easier while walking. Others find it too intense to be so closely looked at or find it hard making eye contact. Most clients already have a love for nature or enjoy walking outside, and are able to make deeper connections in that setting.
