Jon Kabat-Zinn helps the reader understand the foundations of mindfulness - non-judging, beginner's mind, non-striving acceptance, and letting go. The practice of meditation serves as the foundation for learning how to "be" as oppossed to our constant focus on how to "do". Accomplishment in mindfulness is letting go and watching what the mind does from moment to moment without getting caught up in our thoughts. Eventually, with practice, we can learn about the interconnectedness of things, improve our mental and physical well-being and heal much of what keeps us stuck in suffering. Aspects of mindfulness are gradually being integrated with other types of therapies. It is definitely worth reading this foundation book if you are interested in incorportating Mindfulness into your life.
Saying goodbye, shifting into neutral and moving forward. If you want to better understand how to manage transition more effectively this book provides some excellent information. Althought it is essentially a book to address change in the corporate environment it is of significant value to individuals who are going through their own personal changes.
